Zong to establish Pakistan’s largest Private-Public hi-speed wireless broadband educational network for HEC under Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme Phase – II for 100K students.
Pakistan’s sophisticated and only 3G + 4G operator Zong signed a contract with Degree Commission (HEC) here on Thursday to the provision of Wireless Broadband Services on laptops being provided to the students around the world under the “Prime Minister’s Mobile computer Scheme Phase-II”.
The objective of HEC and Zong is always to provide reliable and efficient connectivity access to students by provision regarding Wireless Broad Band Providers and enhance their knowledge base around the world.
Chairman & CEO Zong Mr. Liu Dianfeng stated,

Zong is proud to serve and offer high speed 3G broadband solutions under this project which caters 100, 000 college students nationwide. The students will probably be provided privileged wireless access to Global Educational Resources on HEC’s Digital Library through PERN (Pakistan Education & Research Network). The HEC Digital Library resources were you can buy to students only inside campuses of respective Colleges; but by virtue of this project, students will have the capacity to access the Digital Library resources around the world, anywhere, anytime. The students will even enjoy seamless Internet solutions through co-branded MBB dongle products.
Chairman HEC, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad said,
“Education can make a great deal of difference in social wellness of nearly 47 mil Pakistani youth among which over 2. 6 million students are getting Higher education. This initiative is a feat to provide an increasing number of efficient means of education in line with Prime Minister’s vision 2025. HEC and Zong can figure together to setup R&D stores, E-Classrooms and Innovation Centers for youth capacity developing. Pakistani youth is filled with innovative ideas which should be empowered through these tools. ”
Zong has joined hands with Degree Commission, Government of Pakistan inside launching this National Plan for provisioning of Cellular Internet Services for vivid and talented young students currently studying at any public sector higher education institute from coast to coast. The country’s largest cellular network will even help HEC in method designing, implementation of scheme in addition to execution of this critical project.
